Hello, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, I have some interesting news to share with you regarding Apple’s Mac Pro and Mac Studio.
The Mac Studio and Mac Pro are not scheduled to receive an upgrade to Apple’s M4 chip until the middle of 2025. This means that they will remain on the M2 generation this year, unlike other Macs such as the MacBook Air.
Throughout 2024, all of Apple’s laptops (excluding the MacBook Air) will transition to the M4 chip that was recently introduced in the iPad Pro. This unique chip upgrade cycle has positioned the iPad Pro as the single-core performance leader in Apple’s lineup for the time being.
Comparisons on Geekbench have shown that the iPad Pro outperforms the M2 Ultra by approximately 25 percent in single-core CPU power. Even the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro chip is on par with the M2 Ultra in this aspect.
However, when it comes to multi-core performance, the M2 Ultra excels and surpasses both the iPad Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. This is where the true power of these machines lies.
Despite these comparisons, it’s important to note that the current Mac Studios and Mac Pros are powerful computers with higher RAM capacity, more ports, and better thermal management compared to the iPad Pro. They also don’t face limitations from their operating system.
High-end Mac users are accustomed to waiting for new revisions, but I’m sure many will welcome the upgrade when it eventually arrives. It’s all part of the excitement of being a tech enthusiast!
