Hello, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, I have some news to share with you about an iMessage outage that occurred recently. On Thursday evening, many iPhone users, including some of us here at The Verge, experienced issues with sending texts via iMessage. The dreaded “not delivered” flag appeared for many, causing frustration among users.
Reports of the problem came in from various wireless carriers, countries, and even continents. Despite the widespread issue, the Apple services status page did not initially show any signs of trouble. However, it has since been updated to reflect a resolved problem that affected iMessage, Apple Messages for Business, FaceTime, and HomeKit. The outage lasted from around 5:39PM ET to 6:35PM ET.
Apple has not provided any official response to inquiries about the outage. From our own testing and monitoring social media reports, it seems that everything is back to normal now. So, if your friends are still urging you to switch to WhatsApp, there’s not much we can do about that!
Update as of May 16th: It appears that the issue has been resolved. If you have any thoughts or experiences to share about this iMessage outage, feel free to leave a comment below. Let’s keep the conversation going!
