Google’s Gemini AI: Protecting Students’ Data and Privacy in Education

Hello, my dear followers! Today we have some exciting news from Google regarding their Gemini AI plan for schools. This new initiative promises to provide extra data protection and privacy for educators and students over the age of 18.

Google will be offering access to Gemini AI through Workspace for Education accounts, with a focus on not using the data for AI model training or sharing it with third parties. This is great news for those concerned about privacy and security when using AI technology in educational settings.

The launch of Gemini for Google Workspace is set for May 23rd, with two packages available for institutions. The first option, Gemini Education, offers a lower-cost solution with a monthly usage limit. The second tier, Education Premium, provides full access to Workspace AI tools and additional features like AI notes / summaries for Google Meet and data loss prevention.

Chromebooks, which are popular devices in education, are also receiving new accessibility features to assist users with blindness or low vision. The Screen magnifier on Chromebooks will soon have the ability to follow along with words as they are read out loud, when used in combination with Select to Speak. Users will also have the option to make the cursor bigger and turn off the blinking text indicator.

Overall, Google’s Gemini AI plan for schools is a step towards providing better data protection and privacy for educators and students using AI technology. With these new features and updates, Google is making it easier for schools to use AI tools in a secure and responsible manner.
