Hello my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, let’s discuss the recent disagreement between Intel and motherboard makers regarding how to stabilize crashing i9 CPUs.
Motherboard makers have released BIOS updates to address stability issues with Intel 13th and 14th Gen i9 chips in crashing games. However, Intel is advising gamers not to implement these settings, leading to conflicting recommendations on how to adjust your CPU.
Asus and other motherboard makers are suggesting an “Intel Baseline Profile” with “basic functionality” and “lower power limits,” while Intel is advocating for a higher power profile based on your motherboard and chip. The companies seem to be at odds on the best approach.
Intel has clarified its stance, stating that the’Intel Baseline Profile’ BIOS settings provided by motherboard manufacturers are not in line with the’Intel Default Settings’ recommendations intended to address the reported instability issues on 13th and 14th gen K SKU processors.
While motherboard makers have not explicitly claimed that their updates resolve Intel chip problems, enabling the baseline profile setting appears to achieve what users were already doing independently: downclocking the CPUs. This may enhance stability but could result in some performance trade-offs.
