Hello there, my tech-loving followers! Today, I have an exciting update for you about Google TV’s latest feature. The much-talked-about “Magic Button” has finally made its debut, but not on a Chromecast as expected. Instead, it has been spotted on a real-world remote for an upcoming streaming box made by Walmart.
AFTVnews recently got their hands on Walmart’s unreleased Onn 4K Pro, which is powered by Google TV. The remote for this streaming box includes the new star button in the top right corner, referred to simply as the “customizable button.” This button can be programmed as a shortcut to an app or for changing inputs, replacing the dedicated TV input button found on previous Onn streaming box remotes.
It’s interesting to note that Google’s new Magic Button is being introduced on non-Google hardware. While the button has been rumored for years in relation to Google TV, it has only now made its first appearance. Initially seen in marketing materials for Google’s debut Chromecast TV in 2020, it resurfaced last year in Android TV beta code under the name “Magic Button.” With Google’s I/O developer conference scheduled for May 14th, there is speculation that a new version of Chromecast could be unveiled there.
Last week, the Onn 4K Pro was leaked in a YouTube livestream by Superdell-TV. This new device boasts features such as a built-in smart speaker, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. The remote also includes a prominent “Free TV” button that provides access to Google’s FAST channels. While the device has not yet appeared on Walmart’s website, leaks suggest that an official release is imminent.
Exciting times are ahead in the world of technology, with new innovations and features being introduced to enhance our entertainment experiences. Keep an eye out for more updates on Google TV and other tech developments in the near future!
