Hello my lovely followers! Today I have some interesting news to share with you. Bluesky has confirmed that Jack Dorsey, the Twitter founder, is no longer on its board. The decentralized social media platform expressed gratitude to Dorsey while announcing his departure and the search for a new board member who aligns with their mission of empowering users.
In response to a user’s inquiry, Dorsey simply stated “no” when asked if he was still on Bluesky’s board. This comes after a day of Dorsey unfollowing all but three accounts on X and praising Elon Musk’s platform as “freedom technology.” The reasons behind Dorsey’s exit from the board have not been disclosed by either Bluesky or Dorsey himself.
Currently, Bluesky’s board consists of CEO Jay Graeber and Jabber / XMPP inventor Jeremie Miller. Dorsey initially supported Bluesky in 2019 as a project to create an open-source social media standard for Twitter. He later joined the board when Bluesky separated from Twitter in 2022.
Despite his involvement with Bluesky, Dorsey had not been very active within the company. In a recent interview, Graeber mentioned that Dorsey provides occasional feedback but mostly remains distant. Months before this revelation, Dorsey had closed his Bluesky account.
As of now, Bluesky has not provided further details about Dorsey’s departure from the board. Stay tuned for more updates as the story unfolds!
