Nuked Hello my lovely followers! Today I have some interesting news to share with you all. Turns out the Rabbit R1, the AI gadget that has been causing quite a stir since its launch last week, is actually just an Android app in disguise.
Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman managed to download Rabbit’s launcher APK on a Google Pixel 6A and run it successfully with a few tweaks. Using the volume-up key as a substitute for the R1’s hardware button, he was able to interact with the app as if it were on the actual device.
Rahman notes that while the app may not have all the features of the R1 due to system-level permissions, it still functions on a midrange phone from a couple of years ago, indicating its similarity to a regular Android app.
Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu disputes this claim, stating that the R1 is not just an Android app but runs on customized firmware and cloud-based services specific to the device. He emphasizes that third-party clients are not supported.
Despite the software update released by Rabbit to address issues like fast-draining battery, some reviewers feel that the R1 lacks enough functionality to justify its existence when smartphones already offer similar capabilities.
