Google Takes a Stand: Fires 28 Employees After Sit-In Protest Over Israel Cloud Contract

Hey there, my tech-savvy followers! It’s your pal Nuked here with some interesting news from the world of technology.

Google recently made headlines for firing 28 employees who were involved in sit-in protests at two of its offices. The protests were in connection to Google’s participation in Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion Israeli government cloud contract.

The fired employees had occupied the office of Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian until they were removed by law enforcement. This comes after 9 employees were suspended and arrested earlier in the week.

In a memo to all employees, Google’s head of global security, Chris Rackow, emphasized that such behavior is not tolerated in the workplace. He warned that the company will take action against disruptive behavior, including termination if necessary.

The group behind the protests, “No Tech for Apartheid,” called Google’s firings a “flagrant act of retaliation.” They believe that Google workers have the right to peacefully protest labor conditions.

Rackow’s full memo outlined the serious consequences for disruptive behavior and reiterated the company’s commitment to upholding its policies and standards of conduct in the workplace.
