Tesla Slashes Full Self-Driving Subscription Price in Financial Struggle: Is It Worth the Risk?

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, let’s talk about Tesla slashing the price for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscription. The company has reduced the monthly fee from $199 to $99, reflecting its ongoing financial challenges.

Tesla recently announced the price adjustment for its Level 2 driver-assist system, now called “FSD (Supervised).” This tweak emphasizes that drivers must remain attentive and be ready to take control of the vehicle while using the system.

Previously, Tesla charged $199 per month for FSD subscription, with an option for a one-time $12,000 fee. Now, with Autopilot included as standard on new car purchases, the $99 monthly subscription for existing Autopilot owners is more streamlined.

The company is also offering a one-month free trial of FSD to encourage more customers to try it out. However, FSD has received mixed reviews from Tesla owners, with some praising its capabilities while others find it unreliable.

Tesla’s push for FSD on local roads with traffic signals and intersections sets it apart from other automakers. This approach has drawn scrutiny from regulators, especially after several crashes involving Autopilot users.

Despite these challenges, Tesla’s focus on software services like FSD is crucial for revenue growth amid declining vehicle deliveries. The recent cancellation of a rumored affordable electric vehicle and the potential launch of a “robotaxi” powered by FSD hint at the company’s strategic shift.
