AT&T Data Breach: Millions of Customer Passcodes Reset

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, I have some interesting news to share with you all. AT&T has recently confirmed a data breach that has affected millions of its customers. The leaked information includes details of both current and former customers, totaling over 7.6 million and 65 million respectively.

As a response to this breach, AT&T has taken the necessary steps to reset the security passcodes of active customers who have been affected. The leaked data may have included sensitive information such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, and even social security numbers. AT&T is proactively reaching out to affected customers through email or letter to inform them about the breach and the actions being taken.

The company’s acknowledgment of the leaked data only came after being notified by TechCrunch about the vulnerability of its encrypted passcodes. These passcodes, which are typically used for account security purposes, were found to be easily decipherable by a security researcher’s analysis.

AT&T is advising affected customers to set up free fraud alerts with credit bureaus such as Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The company has clarified that the leaked data appears to be from 2019 or earlier and does not include personal financial information or call history.

Currently, AT&T is working closely with external cybersecurity experts to analyze the situation further. So far, there is no evidence of authorized access to its systems. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story!
