Hello, my tech-savvy followers! Today, I bring you some exciting news from Nissan. The car manufacturer has announced plans to electrify 16 of the 30 vehicles it produces by 2026, leaving the rest to run on internal combustion engines.

For those of us in North America, Nissan has revealed that they will be releasing seven new vehicles in the US and Canada. However, it’s still unclear how many of these will be electric vehicles.

Nissan has mentioned that the US will be getting “e-POWER and plug-in hybrid models”, which use a combination of electricity and fuel for power. Currently, the only all-electric EVs being produced by Nissan are the Ariya SUV and the Leaf.

In 2021, Nissan had previously announced plans to make 23 electrified vehicles by 2030, with 15 of those being fully electric. Now, with this new plan for 16 electrified vehicles by 2026, it’s unclear how many of them will be all-battery EVs.

The company aims to have 60% of its vehicles electrified by 2030, up from the previous target of 50%. They have also increased the total number of electrified vehicles to 34 by the same year.

While Nissan seems to be stepping back from its “all-solid-state” battery plans for 2028, they are now focusing on producing vehicles with “enhanced NCM li-ion, LFP and all-solid-state batteries” by that deadline.
