Hello my fellow tech enthusiasts! Exciting news from Nvidia – their free-tier GeForce Now service will soon feature ads while you wait to play. Starting February 28th, users on the free tier will see up to two minutes of ads while in queue for a gaming session.
Nvidia assures us that the ads won’t interrupt gameplay and are meant to help fund the free tier service. The company believes that this change will ultimately reduce wait times for free users over time.
While some may find the ads a small price to pay for free cloud gaming, others may be more interested in upgrading to the Priority or Ultimate tiers for a more premium experience. The Ultimate tier offers features such as an RTX 4080 in the cloud, reduced latency, and G-Sync monitor support.
For those who prefer to stick with the free tier, Nvidia will be sending out emails on February 27th to notify users about the upcoming ads. In the meantime, we can expect to see more streaming services introducing ad-supported tiers and price hikes in the future.
