However, fleet turnover can be slow, with gas-powered vehicles staying on the road longer. To achieve a fully electric fleet by 2050, gasoline-powered vehicle sales may need to end by around 2035.

Despite recent setbacks in EPA regulations slowing the transition to EV-only sales, the American Lung Association emphasizes the health benefits of such a shift. They hope this report will prompt policymakers to strengthen emission rules for vehicles, ultimately leading to cleaner air for our children.
