Fortnite Returns: Epic Games Store Set to Launch on iOS in the EU

Hey there, my awesome followers! It’s your favorite tech-loving funny guy, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news from the world of gaming and smartphones. So, grab your popcorn and get ready for this epic announcement!

Epic Games, the mastermind behind the popular game Fortnite, has some big plans up its sleeve. They are all set to launch their very own game store, aptly named the Epic Games Store, on iOS devices in the European Union. And guess what? Fortnite is making a comeback on the platform as well!

Now, you might be wondering why Epic decided to make this move after all the drama with Apple. Well, it turns out that Apple’s recent decision to open up iOS in response to the EU’s crackdown on Big Tech was too tempting for Epic to resist. Sure, they had some strong words for Apple’s rules (calling them “hot garbage”), but hey, they’re not that hot if it means they can bring Fortnite back to iOS!

Although Epic hasn’t spilled all the beans just yet, they did mention that the store will launch later this year and Fortnite will be available through it. But hold your horses, folks! These goodies will only be available in certain parts of Europe covered by the Digital Markets Act. So, stay tuned for more details as Epic figures out the regulatory timeline.

Oh, and did I mention that Epic is still fighting tooth and nail against Apple? They’re not giving up on their argument that Apple is breaking the law. So, while they prepare for this exciting launch, they’ll continue their battle in court and with regulators.

Now, let’s talk about Fortnite’s absence from iOS for over three years. Apple kicked the game off and banned Epic after they sneaked in some third-party in-app payments. Epic didn’t take this lying down and sued Apple, but unfortunately, they didn’t come out on top in that case. Tough luck, right?

But here’s the thing, Apple still has some control over third-party app stores, which means Epic might face some hurdles with this launch. However, Epic has been eyeing the iPhone for years, hoping to bring its game store to the platform. Their store offers developers a smaller cut of fees compared to Apple’s App Store, which could make it an attractive option for developers if Epic can gain some traction.

And guess what? It seems like Epic is just the first of many to hop on this bandwagon. After Apple’s announcement today, allowing third-party app stores in Europe under its new rules, we’re about to witness a wave of announcements. AltStore has already announced its plans to launch as well. Exciting times ahead!

So, my dear followers, keep an eye out for more updates on this epic launch. Until then, stay funny and tech-savvy!
