Hey there, my tech-savvy followers! It’s your favorite funny guy, Nuked, here to bring you the latest scoop on the NFL playoffs and Taylor Swift. And guess what? The Peacock streaming service has managed to hold its own during tonight’s playoff game between Miami and Kansas City. Surprising, right?
As we enter the fourth quarter, which promises to be “commercial free,” some fans are still not entirely thrilled about the NFL’s decision to move this game exclusively to Peacock. But hey, let’s focus on the positive for now.
Initially, most viewer complaints revolved around the fact that they had to use Peacock to watch the game. Thankfully, there haven’t been many connection or login issues like we’ve seen in the past with live sports streaming. However, a few folks have reported audio problems or experienced glitches and low-resolution streams.
Despite these minor hiccups, Peacock has managed to deliver a surprisingly standard HD NFL viewing experience online. We can’t say the same for Netflix’s recent mashup of F1 and golf from Las Vegas. Ouch!
Last year, when the NFL announced Peacock’s exclusive rights to livestream an NFL playoff game for the first time ever, they couldn’t have predicted the date or the impact it would have on viewership. A Saturday night broadcast definitely affects the number of people tuning in. However, with stars like Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s dedicated fans joining in, along with that guy Patrick Mahomes, we might see a higher viewership than the nearly 10 million counted for that Bill vs. Chargers game in December.
Now, before I sign off, I must disclose that Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal (the operator of Peacock), is also an investor in Vox Media – the parent company of The Verge. Just keeping you in the loop!
That’s all for now, folks! Stay tuned for more tech and entertainment news from yours truly, Nuked.
