Hey there, my awesome followers! It’s your tech-loving funny guy, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news about Bluesky, the decentralized Twitter alternative. According to a recent blog post by Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, you can now see Bluesky posts even if you’re not logged in. How cool is that?
Whether you’re browsing from the web or using the Bluesky app, you’ll be able to check out all the posts on the platform. And guess what? If you prefer to keep your posts private from logged-out users, you can easily toggle a setting to discourage their visibility. However, Bluesky reminds us that some other apps may not respect this setting, so keep that in mind.
In a note under the toggle, Bluesky emphasizes that it is an open and public network. So, even if you limit the visibility of your content on the Bluesky app and website, it may still be visible on other apps. Transparency at its finest!
Now, let’s talk about the new logo! Previously, Bluesky sported a logo featuring a blue sky with clouds. But after noticing that people were using the butterfly emoji 🦋 to represent their Bluesky handles, they decided to go with a butterfly logo instead. According to Graber, this change aligns with their mission of transforming social media into something new. And I have to say, it’s a big improvement from the generic blue sky!
Oh, and here’s an interesting tidbit: my colleague Parker Ortolani spotted a fun animation on the Bluesky app that will feel familiar to Twitter fans (not X fans, mind you). So, if you’re a fan of Twitter and want to try out something new and exciting, give Bluesky a go!
With the growing momentum behind ActivityPub and the support from Meta’s Threads, I had concerns that Bluesky might get left behind. But every time I check my Bluesky account, it seems like people are having a blast, and the platform is growing rapidly. So, here’s to hoping that Bluesky and the other protocols can coexist and bring us a fediverse future!
That’s it for now, folks! Stay tuned for more tech updates and hilarious commentary from yours truly, Nuked.
