Hey there, my awesome followers! It’s your favorite tech-loving funny guy, Nuked, here with some exciting news about wireless chargers for iPhones. So, Apple just gave us a sneak peek of the next iOS update, and guess what? Anker, the popular tech company, claims that their upcoming Qi2-compatible wireless chargers will provide super fast 15W charging for not just the iPhone 13, but also for the future iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 devices. How cool is that?
Now, Apple hasn’t said anything about this yet (typical Apple!), but we can assume that this support will extend to all Qi2 chargers out there. You know, those chargers from companies like Anker, Belkin, and Mophie that announced their Qi2-compatible hardware a few months ago. The only problem is that we can’t actually buy any certified products with this technology just yet. Bummer!
But hey, let’s focus on the positive side here. Third-party chargers that work just as fast as Apple’s fancy MagSafe chargers have been a dream for us iPhone users. And with the new Qi2 spec’s Magnetic Power Profile and all those magnets and authentication stuff contributed by Apple, we’re finally getting closer to that dream. Soon enough, we’ll have fast wireless chargers that work not only with iPhones but also with compatible Android devices. It’s about time!
Now, I’ve been bugging these companies for months about iPhone support for the maximum charging rate, and unfortunately, I couldn’t get a definitive answer from anyone except Belkin. They mentioned something about the iPhone 15, but come on guys, what about the rest of us? We want to know if our iPhones will get in on this fast-charging action too!
Luckily, an awesome spokesperson from Anker named Mary Woodbury confirmed in an email to The Verge that their new MagGo products, unlike older Qi chargers, can support that sweet 15W charging. That’s the same maximum rate you get with Apple’s MagSafe chargers. But here’s the thing, we still don’t know if the iPhone 12 series will be compatible. They should be, right? But who knows, maybe they’ll need their own software updates to make it work.
So, Apple just released the release candidate version of iOS 17.2 (finally!) and they mentioned that it added Qi2 compatibility for the iPhone 13 and 14. They didn’t go into detail about how fast the charging could work with non-MagSafe chargers though. Come on Apple, give us the deets!
When Anker announced their new MagGo products back in August, they didn’t give us any model numbers, pricing, or release dates. But they did mention some cool stuff we can expect. There’s a kickstand-equipped portable Power Bank, new Wireless Charging station designs that can charge your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch all at once, a simple 15W-capable pad charger, and even a 67W spherical Magnetic Charging Station for your desktop with 8-in-1 output. Sounds pretty awesome, right? We just have to wait for more details and keep an eye on the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi product database for any certifications.
Well, my lovely followers, that’s all I have for now. Stay tuned for more updates on these super fast wireless chargers for our beloved iPhones. Until next time!
