LG’s New Ultrawide Monitors: Compact, Affordable, and Packed with Features

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your funny tech-loving friend, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news from the world of LG. Brace yourselves because LG has just released a pair of new ultrawide gaming monitors, and they’re bringing some serious firepower to the table.

Now, when I say ultrawide, I mean ULTRA-wide. These bad boys measure in at a whopping 45 inches! That’s wider than my sense of humor, and trust me, that’s saying something. But hold on, don’t let the size intimidate you just yet. LG claims that these monitors are equivalent to having two 24-inch monitors side by side. So, it’s like having a compact powerhouse right on your desk.

Let’s talk about the specifics, shall we? We have the UltraGear 45GR65DC priced at $799 and the slightly fancier UltraGear 45GR75DC priced at $899. Now, don’t let the price tag scare you away either. These babies are actually a few hundred bucks cheaper than their 49-inch counterparts from LG and Samsung. And let’s not forget about the Samsung Odyssey Ark from last year, which was basically a gargantuan monster of a monitor.

Now, what sets these two monitors apart? Well, apart from their slightly different names, the 45GR75DC comes with a handy USB-C port that delivers a whopping 90W of power. Perfect for all you multitaskers out there who want to connect your work laptop and gaming rig simultaneously. And guess what? If you pre-order the fancier version before the 19th, LG will even throw in a speaker for good measure. How’s that for a sweet deal?

Let’s dive into the technical stuff now. Both monitors boast 5120 X 1440 1500R curved VA panels that support a whopping 95 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut. And if you’re into all those fancy acronyms, they also come with VESA DisplayHDR 600, VESA Adaptive Sync, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro at up to 200Hz. So you can expect some seriously smooth and vibrant visuals.

Now, let’s talk ports. Each monitor comes with one DisplayPort 1.4 input, two HDMI 2.1 ports, one USB-B 3.0 upstream port, and two downstream ports. Oh, and let’s not forget about the headset jacks for all you audiophiles out there.

But wait, there’s more! The 45GR75DC also adds a nifty USB-C port that can handle video, data, and power delivery up to 90W. So if you’re planning to use this bad boy with both your work laptop and gaming rig, I’d highly recommend splurging a little extra and getting the USB-C version.

Now, I know some of you might have been eyeing the 49-inch LG Ultragear or the Samsung G9, but perhaps the enormous proportions or the hefty $1,200 price tags were a deal-breaker for you. Well, my friends, these new LG ultrawide monitors might just be the perfect alternative for you.

Personally, I’m sitting here typing away on my trusty 32-inch 4K monitor, constantly running out of room for all my windows and tabs. Maybe it’s time for me to consider an upgrade to an ultrawide monitor. But hey, I want to hear from you! Do you think it’s a bad idea or a great idea? Let me know in the comments below!
