Privacy at Your Fingertips: Murena 2 Kickstarter Surpasses $150K for New Phone with Built-In Privacy Switch

Hey there, my tech-loving followers! It’s your favorite funny guy, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news. The Murena 2 smartphone, the highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s privacy-focused Murena One, is now up for grabs on Kickstarter. And guess what? It has already surpassed its funding goal of $26,437 by pulling in over $156,000!

Now, let’s talk about what makes the Murena 2 so special. The standout feature of this new model is its physical privacy switch. When you toggle it on, it disconnects both the front and back cameras, as well as the microphones. It’s like those privacy switches we’ve seen on laptops, but now it’s available for your smartphone too! Not only that, but the Murena 2 also comes with a second physical switch that activates airplane mode and do not disturb mode.

When it comes to hardware specs, the Murena 2 doesn’t disappoint. It sports a 6.43-inch screen with a crisp 1080 X 2400 resolution. You’ll have plenty of storage space with its 128GB capacity, and a long-lasting 4,000mAh battery to keep you going throughout the day. Powering this device is a MediaTek Helio P70 chip with four 2.1GHz cores and four 2GHz cores. And let’s not forget about the impressive camera setup: a 25MP front camera and a 64MP main camera, accompanied by a 13MP telephoto camera and a 5MP wide-angle camera on the back.

Just like its predecessor, the Murena One, the Murena 2 runs on /e/OS, a modified version of Android that doesn’t come with any Google apps. But don’t worry, you can still download Android apps from the App Lounge marketplace. If you prefer to browse anonymously without logging into a Google account, you can do so, but keep in mind that you’ll only have access to free apps.

If you’re itching to get your hands on the Murena 2, you might have missed out on the “super early bird” and “duo early bird” tiers, which have estimated delivery dates of December. However, the “early bird” tier (€399 / about $425) and the “trio early bird” tier (three phones for €898 / about $957) are still open with December delivery dates. There’s also a presale tier available for €449 / about $478, which offers an estimated delivery date of January 2024. And for those who are willing to splurge a little more, there are a few pricier tiers with additional rewards and December delivery dates.

As of now, there are nine days left on the Kickstarter campaign. Before I wrap this up, I want to remind you all that crowdfunding can be a bit unpredictable. Sometimes companies make big promises that they can’t deliver on. So, it’s always important to use your best judgment. Look for signs of legitimacy, such as a working prototype and existing plans for manufacturing and shipping. And remember, backing a project on a crowdfunding site doesn’t necessarily guarantee that you’ll receive the product.

Well, that’s it for now, folks! Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting tech news coming your way. Until next time!
