Hey there, fellow tech enthusiasts! I’ve got some exciting news for all you Apple HomePod users who happen to be fans of YouTube Music. Yes, I know you’re out there, and I’ve got something special just for you. Now, you can integrate YouTube Music with your HomePods and make it your default music service. How cool is that?
The good folks at 9to5Google spotted a Reddit post from Brandon Bilinski, the product head of YouTube Music, announcing this awesome update. If you’re wondering how to set up this integration, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Head over to the support page for YouTube Music where you’ll find detailed instructions on how to get started.
Now, let’s talk about the limited options we currently have when it comes to third-party music services on HomePods. Until now, the only major alternatives to Apple Music that had integrated with HomePods were Deezer and Pandora. But guess what? You can now ask Siri to play music with Spotify on your HomePods too! However, Spotify still doesn’t support connecting its app directly to Apple’s speakers.
But wait, there’s more! YouTube Music has joined the party as well. To connect your HomePods with YouTube Music, you’ll need a YouTube Music or YouTube Premium account. Simply open the app, tap on your user icon in the top right corner, and navigate to Settings > Connected Apps > Connect with HomePod. And if you want to set it as your default service, open the Home App on your iPhone or iPad, tap on the settings icon in the upper right corner, go to Home Settings > Your username (in the People section) > Default Service. Easy peasy!
Now, here’s a little tip in case you don’t see the “Connected Apps” option in your YouTube Music app at first. Don’t panic, I didn’t see it either. Just force-close the app and reopen it, and voila! You should be able to find it. Oh, and make sure you have the latest version of the app installed too, just to be on the safe side.
So, my fellow Apple HomePod users, let’s celebrate this fantastic news together. Say hello to YouTube Music on your HomePods and enjoy a whole new world of music right at your fingertips. Cheers!
