Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your funny guy Nuked here, ready to dive into the exciting world of drones. Today, I want to talk about the DJI Mini 4 Pro, the latest offering from DJI that has caught my attention. So, let’s buckle up and take a closer look at what this drone has to offer.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro is making some bold claims, my friends. It proudly boasts being the first mini drone with binocular vision in every direction. Now, if you’re like me and have been dreaming of a miniature self-flying drone, this news might just make your heart skip a beat. With omnidirectional obstacle sensing and Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS), this little guy promises to keep you safe by enabling automatic braking and bypassing during flight.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. Skydio, the company that had us all drooling over their miniature self-flying drone, has sadly exited the consumer drone business. But fear not, my friends! DJI is here to save the day. With the DJI Mini 4 Pro, we might just be on our way to fulfilling our aerial dreams.
One of the standout features of the Mini 4 Pro is its binocular vision in every direction. This could be a game-changer if it works as advertised. Imagine effortlessly navigating between trees and branches without a worry in the world. While I can’t personally vouch for its tree-dodging abilities just yet, my trusty friend Vjeran has one in his hands for testing.
Now, let’s talk about how the Mini 4 Pro compares to its predecessors and DJI’s other offerings. In many ways, the Mini 4 Pro brings the Mini 3 Pro up to par with the larger and pricier DJI Air 3. It already shares a similar main camera, battery life, and other features with the Air 3. But now, it adds omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, 100fps 4K shooting (and 200fps 1080p shooting), and an improved video transmission range of up to 20 kilometers.
If you’re concerned about battery life, don’t fret. The Mini 4 Pro offers a solid half-hour of flight time with the included battery, and nearly 40 minutes with the bigger “Intelligent Flight Battery Plus.” However, do note that the latter is not available in Europe due to weight restrictions. But fear not, my European friends, as the Mini 3 still holds the title for DJI’s affordable battery champ.
If speed is your thing, though, you might want to consider the Air or a higher-end model. The Mini’s speed is a bit on the slower side, ascending and descending at a leisurely five meters per second. The Air, on the other hand, can zip around at twice that speed. Additionally, the Air offers more flexibility with its second telephoto camera.
If you’re curious about the differences between the Mini 4 Pro, Mini 3 Pro, and DJI Air 3, I highly recommend checking out DJI’s side-by-side comparison website. It’s always nice to see the variations directly.
Lastly, for those of you who already own a Mini 3 Pro or are stocking up on accessories, you’ll be pleased to know that the Mini 4 Pro uses the same batteries. However, it does require a new controller due to the upgraded video transmission system.
That’s all I have for you today, folks! The DJI Mini 4 Pro seems like a promising little gadget that could bring us closer to our drone dreams. So, keep an eye out for reviews and user feedback to see if this mini powerhouse lives up to its hype. Until next time, stay tech-savvy and keep those drones flying!
