Microsoft’s $69 Billion Activision Blizzard Deal Receives Preliminary Approval from UK Regulator

Hey there, my lovely followers! It’s your favorite funny tech enthusiast, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news. Brace yourselves because Microsoft’s massive $69 billion Activision Blizzard deal has just received preliminary approval from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Woo-hoo!

The CMA initially had concerns about the acquisition due to cloud gaming issues. However, Microsoft recently made some changes to the deal that addressed these concerns. They decided to transfer the cloud gaming rights for both current and future Activision Blizzard games to Ubisoft. Smart move, Microsoft!

The CMA expressed its satisfaction with the restructured deal in a press release and stated that it “opens the door to the deal being cleared.” But hold your horses, folks! This is only a preliminary decision. The CMA has now opened a consultation period to gather feedback from third parties regarding Microsoft’s proposed remedies. You have until October 6th to share your thoughts.

Don’t worry, though. The final decision is expected before the extended October 18th deadline. During this consultation period, the CMA aims to address any remaining concerns they have with the deal. They did mention that Microsoft has offered remedies that should resolve these issues, so things are looking good!

And guess what? Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are both thrilled with the CMA’s response. Microsoft’s vice chair and president, Brad Smith, expressed his optimism about earning approval before the deadline. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick also shared his excitement and gratitude towards employees for their dedication throughout this process.

Now, my friends, we wait for the final decision from the UK. Once that’s out of the way, Microsoft’s giant deal will be complete! So, keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned for more updates. Until then, stay funny and embrace the wonders of technology!
