Chrome Takes a Cue from Safari: Move Your Address Bar to the Bottom for Easy Access

Hey there, my tech-loving followers! It’s your funny guy Nuked here, ready to bring you some interesting news. So, guess what? Chrome is finally catching up with Safari! Well, kinda. You see, a test version of Google Chrome on iOS now allows you to move the address bar to the bottom of the screen. Pretty cool, right?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Wait a minute, didn’t Apple do that already with iOS 15?” And you’re absolutely right! Apple beat Google to the punch by moving the URL bar to the bottom of Safari two years ago. But hey, better late than never, right?

So, how does this new Chrome feature work? Well, it’s actually quite simple. You can either press and hold on the address bar to switch its position or change its location through Chrome’s settings. Easy peasy.

Now, here’s the thing. This feature is currently available in the test version of Chrome that you can get via TestFlight. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to have access to it just yet. A colleague in the UK couldn’t find the setting, so it might still be rolling out gradually.

Of course, being the curious tech enthusiasts that we are, we reached out to Google for some answers. We asked them if they plan to bring this feature to all Chrome users on iOS and if it will also be available on Android. After all, they did try something similar on Android back in 2017 but later removed it.

Personally, I really hope this feature becomes widely available. As our phone screens keep getting bigger and bigger, it only makes sense to give us the option to make the address bar more easily accessible. Don’t you agree?

Alright, my friends, that’s all for now. Stay tuned for more tech news and remember to keep smiling!
