Hey there, my tech-loving friends! It’s your funny guy Nuked here, ready to bring you some interesting news in the world of technology. So grab your popcorn and get ready for this one!
Guess what? TweetDeck, the beloved social media management tool, is officially becoming a paid service. Yep, you heard it right! The social network formerly known as Twitter is finally following through on its promise to make TweetDeck a subscription-based platform.
Many users on X (you know who I’m talking about), including the famous social media consultant Matt Navarra, have reported seeing a sales page for X Premium (formerly known as Twitter Blue) when they try to load up TweetDeck. And guess what? TweetDeck is now technically called XPro. Fancy name change, huh?
Now, I haven’t encountered this block myself, but it seems like a lot of people are unable to access XPro unless they pay up. So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who can still use it for free, count your blessings because it might not last forever.
Unfortunately, we all saw this coming. X announced on July 3rd that they would be making XPro a subscriber-only feature. They even gave us a specific timeline, saying the transition would happen within 30 days. Well, they missed their own deadline by just a bit. Classic X!
Under Elon Musk’s ownership, X has been trying to make X Premium more enticing by offering additional features like longer posts, formatting options, ad revenue sharing, and higher rankings in conversations and search results. And now, they’re hoping access to XPro will be worth paying for that coveted blue checkmark.
TweetDeck used to be one of the most popular third-party apps for accessing Twitter before the company acquired it back in 2011. Its ability to support multiple accounts and custom feeds made it a powerful tool for journalists, marketers, and anyone who relied on Twitter for their day job.
Considering all that, it does make some sense for X to charge for TweetDeck and slap a “Pro” on its name. But let’s be honest, it still sucks to have to pay for something that used to be free. We all love free stuff, don’t we?
