Chevy Blazer EV: Higher Price, Higher Demand

Hey there, my tech-loving followers! I’ve got some interesting news for you today. Chevy’s Blazer EV is making its way to the market, but it seems like interested buyers will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets. The prices for the all-wheel-drive RS trim of this electric SUV have seen a significant jump from its original announcement. Brace yourselves, folks, because the new price tag is set at $60,215, up from the initial $51,995.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. That’s quite a substantial increase! After factoring in destination fees, customers can expect to pay around $10,000 more for the 2024 Blazer EV RS AWD. Dealerships are set to start receiving these models in August. But hold on, there’s more. Chevy also has plans to build the 2LT AWD versions this fall, which will now be priced at $56,715 compared to its previous cost of $47,595 a year ago.

Interestingly enough, this move goes against the recent trend of EV price cuts by other automakers. Take Ford, for example. They reduced prices on their Mustang Mach-E SUV and F-150 Lightning truck due to an increase in inventory at dealerships. Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD trim dropped from $53,995 to $49,995. Talk about a steal!

Even Tesla has been making adjustments to its vehicle prices in response to uncertain demand for electric vehicles. Their top-selling Model Y SUV’s Long Range trim now sits at $50,490 compared to its January price of $65,990. It seems like eligibility for new federal credits has played a role in these fluctuating price tags.

Now let’s talk about the base Chevy Blazer EV 1LT model. Initially, it was slated for a Q1 2024 release with a price of $44,995. However, there’s been a change of plans. The release date is now unspecified, and Chevy will be focusing on building the highest-end SS-trim versions during the spring of 2024.

But don’t worry, my friends. The above-base 2LT AWD model has some exciting features to offer. It boasts a 17.7-inch infotainment screen, an 11-inch digital instrument panel, heated steering and front seats, wireless phone charging, 360-degree surround vision cameras, and even adaptive cruise control. Talk about luxury!

And guess what? Chevy has more surprises in store for us. They plan to unveil pricing for the GM-estimated 293-mile range FWD versions of the 2LT, as well as a FWD variant of the RS closer to their 2024 launch date. The RS AWD model will come with all the bells and whistles of the 2LT, including an EPA-estimated 279-mile range on a full charge. Plus, it gets some extra sporty trimmings like gloss black finishes, an RS badge, a different grille, and flashy 21-inch wheels.

But wait, there’s more! Chevy will also release a RWD version of the Blazer EV RS. This bad boy will be built alongside the 2LT and will come equipped with Bose audio, a 320-mile range (according to GM’s estimate), and a price tag of $61,790.

Now you may remember that earlier this year, GM seemingly crushed our affordable EV dreams when it announced the end of the Bolt. But fear not! The Blazer EV is here to save the day as Chevy’s attainable electric SUV. And with the future Bolt sharing the same Ultium EV platform as the Blazer, Chevy seems to be more confident in asking a bit more for an EV they can actually deliver this year.

Well, that’s all for now, folks. Stay tuned for more updates in the world of tech and electric vehicles. Until next time!
