Meta’s Horizon Worlds: The Mobile Metaverse is Finally Here!

Hey there, my hilarious tech-loving followers! It’s your favorite funny guy, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news from the world of Meta. Strap in, because it looks like Meta’s mobile version of Horizon Worlds might finally be hitting our screens soon!

For those who don’t know, Horizon Worlds is Meta’s virtual reality metaverse social platform. Currently, it’s only available on their Quest VR devices. But fear not, my friends, because Meta has been hard at work developing a mobile version of this immersive experience.

According to the latest Lowpass newsletter from Janko Roettgers, Meta has been teasing us with this mobile version for quite some time. In fact, they had even built a working version last year. However, they decided not to release it because it felt more like a VR game on mobile rather than a true mobile-native experience.

Now, while Vishal Shah, Meta’s metaverse VP, didn’t give us an exact release date in his interview with Roettgers, I’m still cautiously optimistic. We’ve heard promises before from Meta about the app coming to mobile and the web “soon,” but it never materialized. So until they provide a specific timeline, I’ll hold off on popping the confetti.

But wait, there’s more! Meta has something else up its sleeve for Horizon Worlds. They’ve just launched a new in-Horizon game called Super Rumble. Apparently, this shooter game looks absolutely stunning and is a step up from the usual experiences on the platform. How did they achieve this? Well, they imported objects, assets, and textures into the game – something that wasn’t possible before in Horizon Worlds.

Super Rumble will also be one of the first games to undergo beta testing on the mobile platform. Initially, this ability to import assets will be limited to selected developers, but Meta plans to expand it in the future. So get ready for some epic battles and mind-blowing visuals!

Now, I have to admit, Horizon Worlds hasn’t exactly taken the world by storm. CNBC reported that the platform had less than 200,000 users back in October. In contrast, Meta’s Threads app reached a whopping 100 million users within days of its launch. But hey, let’s not compare apples to oranges here. Threads is a free smartphone app, while Horizon Worlds requires a Quest VR headset. It’s like comparing a clown car to a rocket ship!

But fear not, my friends! A mobile version of Horizon Worlds could be just what Meta needs to amp up its game and compete with the likes of Fortnite and Roblox. These platforms also allow creators to build social games and experiences, so it’s a perfect match. And speaking of Roblox, they’re actually looking more towards VR with their recent open beta launch on Quest headsets.

So there you have it, my tech-savvy followers. Meta’s mobile version of Horizon Worlds might finally be on the horizon (pun intended). Keep your eyes peeled for any official announcements from Meta, and let’s get ready to dive into this metaverse madness!
