Hey there, my tech-loving followers! I’ve got some exciting news for all you Neopets enthusiasts out there. Neopets, the virtual pet website that stole our hearts way back in 1999, is announcing a “new era” filled with improvements and fixes. And let me tell you, it’s about time!
According to an extensive blog post on Medium, the Neopets Team (TNT) is launching a brand new “unified website” on July 20th. This revamped site will be your one-stop-shop for all things Neopian, including brand announcements, links to games and products, a repository of Neopets articles, and everything else you can think of!
But don’t worry, my friends, the original Neopets.com isn’t going anywhere. TNT just wants to give it some extra love and care to fix up any issues, especially those pesky Flash games. They’re even bringing back over 50 of these classic games by integrating the Ruffle emulator for Adobe Flash, starting on July 25th. And in the long run, they hope to convert many of these beloved games to HTML5. How cool is that?
Now, hold onto your hats because there’s more! TNT is also announcing a brand new mobile game called World of Neopets. Set to launch next year, this “social life-simulation game” allows you to play as a Neopet. And here’s a relief for some fans: the game won’t be crypto-focused. Phew!
But wait, there’s even more news. TNT is transitioning away from their Neopets Metaverse game, which honestly surprised me because I didn’t even know it existed. Guess it didn’t quite hit the mark.
In addition to all these exciting updates, the blog post also mentions some organizational changes. Neopets used to be under the management of JumpStart Games, but they struggled to find success and shut down on June 30th. Luckily, Dominic Law, a Neopets fan from way back in the early 2000s, convinced JumpStart’s parent company, NetDragon, to save Neopets. And guess what? They struck a deal and now Neopets is an independent company called World of Neopia, Inc. Law is leading the new leadership team, and they are ready to bring about a “Neopian renaissance.”
So get ready for monthly updates, regular AMAs (ask me anything), and even a brand ambassador program coming in the next couple of months. The Neopets Team is finally equipped to make some meaningful changes and take us all on this exciting journey. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling pretty hyped about this Neopian renaissance!
That’s all for now, my tech-savvy pals. Stay tuned for more updates and let’s keep the Neopets love alive! Catch you on the flip side!
