Instagram’s Threads App Surpasses 100 Million Users in Record Time

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your funny guy Nuked here, ready to bring you some awesome news from the world of technology. Today, we’re diving into the incredible success of Instagram’s latest app, Threads. So, fasten your seatbelts and let’s get started!

Instagram’s Threads app has taken the world by storm, surpassing a whopping 100 million users in record time. Believe it or not, it achieved this milestone even faster than the popular ChatGPT chatbot developed by OpenAI. While ChatGPT took two months to reach this mark, Threads managed to do it in just a matter of days. You can find the exact number of users within the Instagram app itself, which keeps track of the Threads userbase.

Threads proved to be an instant hit right from the start. Within a mere two hours of its launch, it already had 2 million users on board. And guess what? The numbers kept soaring! It quickly climbed to 5 million, then 10 million, and continued its upward trajectory to 30 million and eventually an impressive 70 million users. Mark Zuckerberg himself expressed his surprise at this overwhelming response, stating that the launch has far exceeded their expectations.

But it’s not just about signing up; users are actively engaging with the app too. In fact, as of Thursday, over 95 million posts and a staggering 190 million likes have already been shared on Threads. However, we must remember that Threads is still in its early stages, and only time will tell if it can capture the same cultural significance as Twitter once did.

The aim of Meta, the parent company of Instagram, is not to replace Twitter. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, clarified that they are not actively encouraging politics and hard news on the platform. Nevertheless, Threads could potentially become the go-to place for conversation-based social media. While Meta is thrilled with the success of the launch week, Mosseri admits that they are yet to determine if the app will retain its users in the long run.

Now, let’s compare these numbers to Twitter, shall we? Elon Musk tweeted last November that Twitter had around 260 million monetizable daily active users. More recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that Twitter claims to have approximately 535 million monetizable monthly active users. However, external data suggests that Twitter’s traffic has been on a decline in recent months, with CloudFlare CEO Matthew Prince even using the word “tanking” to describe it.

That’s all for now, folks! Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the world of technology. Until next time!
