Hello my lovely tech followers! It’s your favorite funny guy Nuked here, and I’ve got some exciting news for all you gamers out there. Microsoft is teaming up with Nvidia to bring PC Game Pass titles to Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service. That’s right, you’ll be able to play your PC Game Pass catalog on all the devices supported by Nvidia GeForce Now.
This partnership was announced by Sarah Bond, head of Xbox creator experience, at a private Xbox media briefing in Los Angeles. According to Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire editor in chief, this move will enable the PC Game Pass catalog to be played on any device that GeForce Now streams to, including low spec PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, mobile devices, TVs, and more. This is a big deal for cloud gaming, giving PC Game Pass subscribers access to Nvidia’s superior game streaming service.
GeForce Now members will be able to “stream select PC games from the library,” so it may not be the full catalog just yet. However, in our own testing we found that the RTX 4080 tier of GeForce Now was far superior to Microsoft’s own Xbox Cloud Gaming offering for performance and latency. So this is definitely something to get excited about.
What’s more, this move also means that Microsoft’s promised Microsoft Store support for GeForce Now will extend beyond just your purchases and include the PC Game Pass subscription. Nvidia has previously stated that support for the Microsoft Store on GeForce Now will “become available in the coming months,” so we may not have to wait too long to see PC Game Pass on GeForce Now.
All of this work is part of a fresh partnership between Microsoft and Nvidia that sees Xbox PC games come to GeForce Now. This partnership was struck earlier this year as part of a broader effort by Microsoft to appease regulators over its proposed Activision Blizzard deal. The 10-year agreement between Microsoft and Nvidia includes licensing Xbox PC games to GeForce Now, as well as access to Activision Blizzard titles if Microsoft’s proposed acquisition is approved by regulators.
However, UK regulators have already blocked the deal over cloud competition concerns, despite Microsoft’s deals with multiple cloud gaming rivals. This surprise move by Microsoft to offer its PC Game Pass subscription on a rival cloud gaming service may help it convince regulators over its proposed Activision Blizzard acquisition. Only time will tell.
So there you have it, folks. Get ready to play your favorite PC Game Pass titles on Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service in the coming months. This is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting partnership between Microsoft and Nvidia in the world of cloud gaming. Until next time, keep on gaming!
