Star Wars: KOTOR II for Switch Misses Out on Finishing Touch, Offers Apology Games Instead

Hello there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It seems that the Nintendo Switch port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II has hit a bit of a snag. The promised free Restored Content DLC will not be coming to the game, as announced by developer Aspyr Media on Twitter.

Instead, Aspyr is offering a consolation prize of free Star Wars game keys for anyone who has purchased the game. However, it’s unclear how to obtain these keys, as the company simply directs users to its support page without any further instructions.

The Restored Content DLC was originally a fan-made mod that added cut content back into the game. Aspyr’s Switch port of KOTOR II was already incomplete at launch, with players unable to actually beat the game. The developer acknowledged the issue and provided a fix the following month.

However, this flawed execution and poor showing at a demo with Lucasfilm and Sony resulted in Aspyr’s parent company, Embracer Group, handing over the port of the first Knights of the Old Republic game to Saber Interactive. Embracer Group cited a desire to “ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title.”

We’ve reached out to Aspyr for more information on how to obtain the free game keys and will update if we receive a response. In the meantime, fans of Star Wars games can still enjoy other titles such as KOTOR on Switch, KOTOR II on Steam, Star Wars: Episode I Racer, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Let’s hope that future ports and releases are able to meet the expectations of fans and companies alike. May the Force be with us all!
