Logitech’s Logi Dock Flex: The All-in-One Docking Station for Hot Desking and Hybrid Working

Hey there, my tech-loving friends! Nuked here to talk about Logitech’s latest solution for hot desking and hybrid working. The Logi Dock Flex is a USB-C docking station that aims to make the process of reserving desks and monitoring availability a whole lot easier. And, it comes with a built-in 8-inch touchscreen display that’s reminiscent of an Amazon Echo Show smart display.

While the addition of a display to a docking station may seem strange, Logitech has managed to pack in plenty of ports to support a standard office setup. On the front of the Logi Dock Flex, you’ll find two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port below the screen. On the rear, there are two additional USB-A ports, a USB-C port, a gigabit ethernet port, and a Kensington lock slot. It can even display which employee has reserved that desk and for how long it’ll be in use.

But that’s not all – the Logi Dock Flex can support two 4K monitors via one HDMI and one DisplayPort connection and provides any laptop it’s hooked up to with 100W of charge via its dedicated USB-C connection. Employees can also use the screen to join meetings and display their calendars, photographs, and away messages.

The Logi Dock Flex is the successor to the original Logi Dock, which was an adorable cube-shaped docking station with a built-in speakerphone. According to Scott Wharton, general manager of Logitech B2B, “We took a multidimensional approach to building Logi Dock Flex that not only solves desk booking and management issues but promotes social collaboration and gives IT and workplace managers data on how the tech and space are being used.”

However, at $699, the Logi Dock Flex isn’t exactly cheap. If you don’t need the built-in display, there are plenty of more affordable docking stations available. Many, like CalDigit’s TS4, also provide Thunderbolt support, which the Logi Dock Flex appears to lack entirely. The Logitech desk booking software is available now, and a paid version of the desk booking software is also available for an annual subscription of $49 per desk, which provides additional features like analytics, advanced user management, and office maps.

The Logi Dock Flex will be available in the fall of 2023. Until then, we’ll have to wait and see how it performs in the real world. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on this new all-in-one docking station from Logitech!
