Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your favorite funny guy Nuked here, bringing you some exciting news about the Steam Deck and Redfall. Now, I have to be honest with you all – I’m not entirely convinced that Redfall is a stellar game. It seems to be lacking the depth that we’ve come to expect from Arkane. However, fear not! With a few simple tweaks, you can make it playable on your Steam Deck.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Playable? Is that really the best we can hope for?” But trust me, it’s better than the default settings. With just a few adjustments, you can take your gameplay from a choppy 24fps mess to a smooth 43fps experience.
The secret sauce? Well, it seems that Redfall defaults to 800p medium spec on the Deck – and the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 2.1 Quality) doesn’t seem to be working properly at the moment. So, I’ve been running the game at 1280 X 720p, low spec, with FSR 2.1 Ultra Performance. Sure, it might look a little muddy in motion, but at least it’s playable now.
Here are the settings I used:
But wait, there’s more! Before you dive into your gameplay, I recommend one more tweak. Pull up the quick settings menu on your Deck and go to Performance. Set your Refresh Rate to 40Hz and Frame Limiter to 40fps. This will improve both battery life and responsiveness.
Now, I know my settings might be consuming a bit more energy, but I saw an immediate dip in wattage after making these adjustments. Until Bethesda and AMD issue some fixes, this is my recommendation for playing Redfall on your Deck. Happy gaming, folks!
