Game On: Asus ROG Ally Handheld Gaming PC to Compete with Steam Deck at $699.99

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Nuked here, bringing you some juicy news about the highly anticipated Asus ROG Ally. Are you ready for it? Brace yourselves, because it looks like this handheld gaming PC will be priced at just $699.99 for the higher-end model with an AMD Z1 Extreme chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. That’s only $51 more than the 512GB Steam Deck, which is pretty impressive if you ask me.

Now, you might be wondering how we know this information. Well, reliable gadget leaker Roland Quandt showed a leaked screenshot from BestBuy provided by Wickedkhumz, and there was also an earlier leak by SnoopyTech. The data we’ve seen is pretty convincing, with even the product number associated with the $699.99 gadget identifying it as the Z1 Extreme model with 512GB of storage.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that the price is just a placeholder, but we won’t know for sure until May 11th. If the Z1 Extreme starts at $699.99, I wonder what a vanilla AMD Z1 version of the Ally would cost? Asus confirmed that both models will go on sale, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Let’s talk about some of the other features of the ROG Ally. According to the data we’ve seen, it measures 11.02 inches wide, 4.37 inches tall, 0.83 inches deep, and weighs 608 grams (1.34 pounds). You can upgrade the M.2 2230 SSD with just a single screw, and it has an IPS screen protected by Gorilla Glass DXC. Plus, the Ally will charge from 0 to 50 percent in just 30 minutes using a bundled 65W USB-C power brick, which is pretty impressive compared to the slow charging of the Steam Deck.

One of my colleagues, Monica, pointed out that price, battery, and software were the three big remaining questions with the ROG Ally. With this leak, we might have answered one of them. However, Asus did not immediately respond to a request for comment, so we’ll have to wait for an official statement from them.

That’s all for now, folks! What do you think about the rumored price of the Asus ROG Ally? Let me know in the comments below!
