Brick by Brick: The Ultimate Lego Game Boy Build That Needs to Be an Official Set

Hello, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, I bring you a delightful piece of news that will surely put a smile on your face. Nick Lever, a video editor and Lego Masters Australia finalist, has created a Lego version of the original Nintendo Game Boy that is so impressive, it deserves to become an official Lego set.

With just 364 pieces and 115 different parts, Lever has managed to recreate almost every recognizable feature of the Game Boy, from the angled Start/Select buttons to the distinctive screen tint. While there are a few missing features like a removable battery tray and front speaker, you can still press down on the D-pad and click in a “cartridge.”

But here’s the best part: those A and B buttons are actually hats like Mario wears! Lever credits his fellow contestants Jay and Stani for that clever addition. The only downside is that one specific lime green tile is currently sold out worldwide, thanks to Lever’s build. However, he suggests using three smaller tiles instead.

If you’re interested in building your own Lego Game Boy, Lever is selling the instructions for just $5.65 at Rebrickable. With a few tweaks to your BrickLink shopping cart, you could purchase all the necessary parts for as little as $42 before tax and shipping.

This isn’t Lever’s first attempt at creating a Lego Game Boy, and he even has plans to build the one that survived getting bombed in the Gulf War. And who knows? Maybe Lego will take notice of his amazing creation and turn it into an official set just like they did with the Lego NES.

So what do you think of this Lego Game Boy? Would you be interested in building your own? Let me know in the comments below!
