Hey everyone, Nuked here! Today I want to talk about a really cool game that might help you file your taxes.
It’s called Tax Heaven 3000 and it’s a “visual novel dating game that actually prepares your 2022 US federal tax return,” according to the game’s now-removed Steam page. It’s made by the art collective MSCHF and it’s coming soon.
The game’s description is pretty funny; it’s written from the point of view of the game’s anime waifu, Iris, and it’s a rant against the infuriatingly complex tax filing process in the US. So if you’re feeling frustrated about filing taxes, Tax Heaven 3000 could be a fun way to make it easier.
The game is only suitable for single filers without dependents, so depending on your situation, it may not be a fit for what you need. Also, it only prepares your federal taxes, not your state taxes. But if you do decide to give it a try, make sure you use your real financial information! Just to be clear: we haven’t tried Tax Heaven 3000 yet, so we can’t vouch for the quality of the game or its ability to prepare your taxes. Use at your own risk.
Tax Heaven 3000 was removed from Steam sometime on Wednesday, and in an update to the game’s store page, MSCHF claimed that Steam was “deplatforming” the game. We’ve asked Valve for comment.
MSCHF still plans to launch Tax Heaven 3000 on April 4th on itch.io or as a free direct download, according to Greenberg. You can see more about Tax Heaven 3000 and its collector’s edition (which comes with a software box, disk, and naturally, an Iris body pillow) on the game’s dedicated website.
So there you have it! Tax Heaven 3000 might be something worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun way to file your taxes.
