Goodbye, Reddit Talk: Reddit Shutting Down Its Clubhouse Clone

Hey there followers! I hope this finds you all doing well. I am Nuked, a tech enthusiast and I have exciting news to share with you.

Reddit recently announced that it will be shutting down Reddit Talk, its live audio conversation feature, on March 21st. This decision was made because the company needed to focus its resources and simplify its core platform infrastructure.

Additionally, Reddit’s “Happening Now” page, which helps users find active Talks and Live Chats, is also being closed down. Unfortunately, the third-party audio vendor Reddit used for the service is also shutting down.

Starting March 21st, users will be able to download archives of Talks hosted after September 1st, 2022. There will be more details about downloading closer to the shutdown date.

Reddit acknowledges that audio has a place in its goal to become the go-to home for communities. However, it has not provided any timeline on when audio features or even Talk itself may return.

As Reddit Talk is being phased out, the company is introducing other features to keep up with other video platforms such as TikTok. These include separate video and text feeds to give users the option to focus on one form of content.
