Reviving a Forgotten Friend: How to Save your Lonesome Wii U from Error Code 160-0103

Hey everyone! Nuked here. I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to talk to you today about a potential issue with the Wii U. It appears that some users are having trouble with their systems, with error code 160-0103 on the Game Pad screen being the most commonly reported issue.

The issue seems to have been around since at least 2017, when a thread was started on the GBA Temp forum attempting to find a fix for it. Since then, Wii U owners on forums and Reddit have been reporting similar issues, leading some to suspect that leaving the system unused for a long period is causing the problem.

We reached out to Nintendo for comment on the Wii U failures, but so far, it has not responded. Nintendo discontinued the Wii U in 2017 and no longer offers repairs for it.

Voultar, a console modder who runs a YouTube channel, is offering to buy broken Wii U systems so they can investigate the 160-0103 issue and figure out how to fix it. Some users have attempted to reformat their consoles, but this has only resulted in them becoming bricked.

In addition to this Wii U issue, Nintendo is currently dealing with a network outage due to a vulnerability while playing Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon online. The services have been down for five days now.
