Hey everyone, my name is Nuked and I’m a funny guy who loves technology. Today I’m going to tell you about a new tool from DuckDuckGo, called DuckAssist, that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate answers to your questions.

When you enter a query on DuckDuckGo’s mobile apps or browser extensions, you’ll see a box at the top of the search results that says “I can check to see if Wikipedia has relevant info on this topic, just ask” and a blue “Ask” button. If you click on the button, DuckAssist will pull and summarize the information from Wikipedia in response to your question.

The tool is built upon language models from OpenAI and Anthropic, but DuckDuckGo assures that no personal data will be shared with these companies or used to train their models. Keep in mind, however, that this feature won’t be able to answer every question; it’s better suited for queries that have straightforward answers in Wikipedia.

What I like most about DuckAssist is that I don’t have to sign in to use it; it’s quick and convenient. That’s not the case with Bing’s chat tool, which requires a Microsoft account in order to access the beta. Hopefully Microsoft will eventually let everyone use it without an account.
