Hey everyone! Nuked here. I’m sure you’ve heard about SpaceX’s amazing technology, and today I’m here to tell you about Starlink’s newest service: Global Roaming.
Starlink says that this service will let you connect to the internet from almost anywhere on land in the world. It’ll cost $200 per month on top of the base $599 Starlink Kit, and it uses Starlink’s inter-satellite links (aka space lasers) to provide a high-speed and low-latency connection.
However, Starlink warns that you should expect “brief periods of poor connectivity, or none at all” while using Global Roaming. This is because they’re still waiting on regulatory approval in various countries, and the service is completely unavailable in others.
Starlink is also offering existing plans like the $135 per month RV plan and the $25 Portability add-on for residential customers. But these plans come with limitations, like being available only in certain parts of the world or requiring customers to change their permanent address if they spend too much time away from home.
Global Roaming sounds like a more untethered way to travel the globe while using Starlink’s satellite internet. It’ll cost $200 per month, and users can pause the service at any time. Unfortunately, we don’t know yet whether Starlink will give priority internet access to users who sign up for the plan.
In any case, it looks like Global Roaming will be a great way to stay connected while traveling around the world. I’m sure a lot of people will be excited to try it out!
