360-Degrees Around the World: Google Meet Rolls Out New Virtual Backgrounds for Video Calls

Hey everyone, it’s Nuked here! I’m excited to share something cool that Google Meet just rolled out – 360-degree virtual backgrounds for video calls. Whether you’re on iOS or Android, you can now use your device’s gyroscope to move with you and the background will adjust accordingly.

You can choose from several backgrounds, including a beach and a temple. It’s a pretty neat feature, but I can see how it might be distracting if someone is constantly moving their phone around. That being said, it’s still probably not as obnoxious as Meet’s filters like the one that turns you into a cat.

Google recently started rolling out emoji reactions for Meet, and they’re also in the process of gradually transitioning users to the new Meet app that combines the features of Duo. So far, Meet has a long way to go to catch up with Zoom’s complete library of reactions.
