Xbox February Update:’Carbon Aware’ Downloads and Google Home App Support

Hey everyone! I’m Nuked, and today I’m going to tell you about the latest February update for Xbox consoles.

It includes some great new features, such as “carbon aware” downloads and Google Home app support. The “carbon aware” downloads connect to the internet and check regional carbon intensity data to find times with lower carbon emissions when performing game downloads and updates.

Xbox has also added a one-time switch that allows users to select the “Shutdown (energy saving)” setting, which uses significantly less energy than keeping it in Sleep mode. This does mean a longer boot process, but Xbox is also introducing new active hours settings that put your console into Sleep mode during the times when you’re more likely to play or access it remotely.

You can now also use the Google Home app as a touch remote control for Xbox consoles. It includes features like powering on/off consoles, navigation, play/pause, recording of game clips and volume controls.

The February dashboard update also includes a few other tweaks, such as the ability to hide game art on the homescreen, and a quick way to see recent parties in the dashboard.
