Say Goodbye to Microsoft Authenticator on Apple Watch

Hey everyone! This is Nuked and I’m here to share some unfortunate news. Microsoft Authenticator is no longer supporting the Apple Watch.

This means that you won’t be able to use your wearable to quickly log in to your connected accounts. However, you can mirror any Microsoft Authenticator notifications on your iPhone to your Apple Watch.

Microsoft Authenticator was first introduced for the Apple Watch back in 2018 and has been a great way to simplify multi-factor authentication. It was nice being able to approve logins through notifications on your watch, instead of having to open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.

We first heard about the shutdown in December, when Microsoft updated its FAQ page. They didn’t provide any details as to why they dropped support, only mentioning that watchOS was “incompatible with Authenticator security features.”

Sadly, this isn’t the only app that’s been removed from watchOS over time. Other apps like Pokémon Go, Uber, Instagram and more have also been removed. The Microsoft Authenticator was especially useful, so it’s a real shame that it’s going away.
