Hey everyone! Nuked here, ready to talk about the newest AI advances from Google. As you may know, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been gaining a lot of attention lately, with many people wondering when Google would jump into the fray.
Well, according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the company is working on a way for people to “interact directly” with its “newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search.” He believes that AI technology has reached an “inflection point” and that the company has been preparing for this since early last year.
The first model people will be able to engage with is LaMDA, Google’s conversational AI model. While some people have already had the chance to interact with it in limited ways, this would be the first time it’s open to the public. Google employees are reportedly testing chatbot rivals to ChatGPT right now, and it’s possible that other tools like text-to-image and text-to-video could become available too.
Google is taking a cautious approach to this though. Pichai says they’re pursuing AI with a “deep sense of responsibility” and that they’ll be launching their products more as labs features or beta features and slowly scaling up from there.
It’s clear that people want to explore AI, and now Google may finally be ready to give us that chance. I’m very excited to see what they come up with!
