Hey everyone! I’m Nuked and I’ve got some exciting news to share with you. Paramount has decided to merge its Paramount Plus streaming service and premium Showtime channel, and rebrand them as’Paramount Plus with Showtime’. This is a great move that will bring more content to Paramount Plus, and give Showtime a boost too.

The merger will also see some of Paramount Plus’ original content, such as shows like Halo and Yellowstone spinoff 1923, being transferred over to the TV network. CEO Bob Bakish has said that this change “brings uncertainty for the teams working on these brands and businesses”, and that he’ll share more details in “the coming weeks”. This could result in layoffs, as well as some shows like Three Women, Let the Right One In, and American Gigolo being axed.

The $9.99 per month premium Paramount Plus plan will also be renamed as’Paramount Plus with Showtime’. However, it’s not yet clear how much this new tier will cost since Paramount Plus already offers bundled plans with Showtime. We should get more information on this in the coming weeks.

Bob Bakish has said that this merger is “the natural next step in our evolution”, and will see Paramount Plus become the “definitive multiplatform brand in the streaming space” by integrating streaming and linear content together. This is a great move that could also result in price increases for Paramount Plus due to competition from services like Hulu, Disney Plus, and Netflix.
