Hey there, fellow tech enthusiast! I’m Nuked and I’m here to share something fun and interesting with you: the Calculator Drawer from the Internet Archive.

This online collection includes 14 classic calculators, from the HP 48GX to the TI-82 to the Electronic Number Muncher. What’s really cool is that these emulations aren’t just replicas of the calculators’ interfaces; they also mimic their physical design and buttons, making it feel like you’re using the real thing.

The Internet Archive’s blog explains how this is made possible through the MAME Artwork System, which is a branch of the open-source framework used to recreate classic arcade games. This system is able to replace vector-based drawings with actual images of the calculators.

For those of us who don’t remember how these calculators work, the Internet Archive has also uploaded a collection of user manuals. And if you get stuck, you can always click on the calculator’s buttons to input numbers and functions just like you would if it were in front of you.

It’s awesome to have this opportunity to try out these retro calculators without having to get our hands on them. I definitely have fond memories of my TI-84 Plus in high school and college. Who knew that a calculator could be so much fun?
