During a recent earnings call, Elon Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck’s manufacturing will be starting “sometime this summer”, but that it won’t reach mass production until next year. Musk added that production starts off slowly and then “increases exponentially”.

The Cybertruck was originally announced in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic has caused some delays. Additionally, Musk has warned investors that the specs and price of the vehicle “will be different” from what was originally said.

However, there is still some good news! Tesla recently revealed that they have started installing the production equipment needed for the Cybertruck’s assembly, including castings for its body. The pickup is expected to be manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

Industry experts have warned that Tesla needs to speed up production in order for the Cybertruck to have its desired impact. With other electric pickups like F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T and potentially Chevy Silverado EV and RAM 1500 EV entering the market soon, the Cybertruck may start to seem outdated.
