The world’s most powerful space telescope has begun its next phase of operations

The James Webb telescope ended a series of major deployments over the span of two weeks. All of those deployments needed to go perfectly in order for the massive space telescope to function.

The jwst has two primary mirror panels on either side. Each of them consists of three gold-plated hexagonal mirrors. Today, the rightmost wing was successfully unfurled.

Stay tuned over the coming months as the space telescope reaches its destination of LaGrange point 2. Stay tuned in for the next months as it prepares to arrive at its destination.

The jwst launched into space on Christmas day. Since the full-size mirror was too large to fit on a rocket, scientists designed it in a way that allows its components to fold.
