Slack now groups emoji reactions with different skin tones

The feature is now rolling out to everyone, the company tells the verge. The newsroom’s newsroom’s slack now groups emoji reactions with different skin tones into one mass reaction.

A simpsons-yellow tightened biceps emoji on a slack message. A dark skin tone will show up alongside the yellow one. Your reaction will be added to the total count.

My editors have allowed me to post a highly secretive message from our internal Slack. You can get an idea of how the grouped emoji reactions look like in practice.

Emoji reaction groups have four different skin tones represented. The feature could group all six of the options available for all.

Instead of adding a new one that better represents you, you can just punch an emoji reaction. The change is a huge boon for inclusivity, in my opinion.
