Marco Rubio, Josh Hawley, Kelly loeffler and Kevin Cramer have signed a letter to FCC chairman Ajit Pai. The rule protects websites from liability for user-generated content.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order against’social media bias’ after Twitter added a fact-check to his false claims about voter fraud. The order has already been challenged in court for violating the first amendment.

The letter argues that websites should assume legal risk for user-generated content when they’blur the lines between distributor and publisher by favoring one political point of view over another’.

The FCC ca n’t simply redefine the accepted scope of a short and straightforward law. Serious changes would need to come through Congress.
