Android Auto has received another update that will provide the platform to users running on Android 10 operating system.

Until now, Android Auto has mainly been available to Android users on Android 8.0 Oreo, and it will now be accessible to Android users running on Android 10, as long as the computer is using Google Assistant, according to Android Police.

An official comment from Google specifies that the OS update is meant to help optimise the version, with Andy Gapps being the key employee behind the update.

“Today we’re excited to announce the availability of Google Assistant SDK for Android Auto 1.5 to Auto 10 and Android Wear 1.5 and 12.2,” writes Gapps on Google’s Automotive Blog. “Car companies, OEMs, and mobile app partners can use this SDK to create additional devices and capabilities for Auto Auto 5 and 5.5 and 7 and 7.5.”

One of the main features introduced by Android Auto to allow drivers to get help while driving has been enhanced too. “Another highlight is improved HDR image processing as well as improved video signal processing for improved video playback and more,” says Gapps.

According to the Blog, you can expect the new update to be available “over the next few weeks”.
